The Epic Kayaks K1T was developed from our largest K1 hull, the Legacy XXL. We then modified our surfski cockpit to combine the bucket length of the V14 with the larger leg length adjustability of the V5 rail system. A paddler who can fit in the V14 will fit in this boat, with the added bonus of shorter paddlers now getting to have their fun too!
The K1T acts essentially like a high volume K1 with all the added benefits of a surfski. Safety is greatly increased over a typical K1, as remounting is possible, and any water can be quickly drained away by the Epic bailer. No more dragging the boat to shore if you capsize or are inundated by a wave! Our standard surfski footboard and pedals will give you the adjustability and steering you are accustomed to. This should provide much better steering control than standard tiller bar setups.
The K1T will be a great choice for advanced paddlers who often paddle choppier flatwater conditions. It will also be a great option for surfski paddlers who like to train for flatwater when they cannot be on the ocean.
